  • Devin Aracena is the Co-founder and CEO of Canvast Supply Co., based in Nashville, TN. Originally Canvast Supply Co. develops consumer products focused on treating cannabis as an ingredient with other functional inputs. The brand is sold direct-to-consumer and through national distribution. Devin comes from a decade of experience in cannabis, product development, and sales and marketing. Where there’s a challenge - Devin thrives! In a largely unregulated industry, her team and products go above and beyond on setting standards.

John Kerns
New Bloom Labs

  • John Kerns serves as the Co-Chair of Cultivate Tennessee. He’s a lifelong Tennesseean and Co-Founder and CEO of New Bloom Labs, a cannabis testing laboratory company serving hemp markets worldwide. A twelve-year veteran of the home health industry as an owner and operator, he built a small operation into a local market leader, creating over 80 jobs along the way. John is a graduate of Leadership Chattanooga, and a past chairman of the board of directors for Welcome Home of Chattanooga, a residence for those with a terminal illness that have nowhere to go for end-of-life care. He and his wife split their time between Chattanooga and Marion County with their pup, Banjo.

  • Christie Tarleton is co-founder and Marketing Manager of Canvast Supply Co. After 10+ years of experience working in Certified Organic Agriculture, Christie pivoted to hemp after the passing of the 2014 Farm Bill. Christie brings a unique blend of farming and design sensibility to her work. She has apprenticed at Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture and studied at Parsons New School for Design. Christie resides in Nashville, TN, with her husband Will.

  • As a business investor, entrepreneur, and real estate market leader, Travis is a veteran sales professional, but his experience with CBD’s positive effects hit a very personal note for him when his mom fell ill with cancer in 2018. Through his mom’s use of CBD products to help her find comfort during the treatment process, Travis saw CBD’s positive effects first-hand. From then on, he knew he wanted to find a way to give these impactful CBD products to everyone who lives with ailments like physical discomfort and anxiety. After two years of thorough research and development Hámarki Wellness was launched in January of 2021. Just a few months after, Travis launched Blóm by Hámarki to grow the highest quality indoor hydroponically grown hemp flower for the consumer to purchase. Through the expansion of their indoor gardens Blóm brings quality hemp flower and hemp derived products to hundreds of wholesale accounts. Finally, In 2022 The Blóm Shop was launched as the flagship retail store for Hámarki and Blóm by Hámarki. Travis has successfully opened The Blom Shop with plans to continue expanding in 2024.

    Travis' background includes demonstrated success in consulting, financing, and appraising home sales. Travis has a real estate team with Keller Williams Realty and is also the President of T&T Real Estate Investments founded in 2008. His company has bought, rehabbed, and successfully sold over 100 homes in the East Tennessee region. Travis earned a Bachelor of Business Administration focused in Business Management from the University of Tennessee.

  • Dex and Kelsey Palmer are a husband-and-wife team and the co-founders of Consider It Flowers. With extensive and successful backgrounds in music, marketing, real estate, and now cannabis, the duo has established over a decade-long reputation as honest, hard-working business people rooted in Nashville TN.

    The power couple has always known that their greatest success would come from combining their passions and collaborating. The dynamic range from Dex’s Tennessee hillbilly bootlegging roots and Kelsey’s California blue-dreaming upbringing has created the perfect hybrid synergy for an innovative business. Consider It Flowers grew from their shared love of branding, cannabis, eCommerce, fashion, and a modern lifestyle.

    Since its conception in early 2020, Dex and Kelsey have grown Consider It Flowers from a dream and limited personal capital into a thriving business.   • John has helped several businesses to build high-quality outsourced finance and accounting functions. In his client-facing role, John has led accounting system and process implementation, managed month-end close and financial reporting, and spear-headed financial strategy through projection model developments, cash flow forecasting, and revenue and cost cycle analysis.

    Since Compass EAST’s start, John has worked with over 50 early-stage and high growth companies across a variety of industries including real estate, food and beverage, healthcare, technology, energy, and professional services.

    Outside of Compass EAST, John previously served on the board of the Tennessee Solar Energy Industries Association (TenneSEIA) where he held both the Policy Chairman and Treasurer roles. John is a member of the Tennessee Society of CPAs (TSPCA) and serves as the TSCPA Young CPA Committee Chair. He is also a member of the Phoenix Club of Nashville and a mentor at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee. John is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Tennessee. He received his BBA from the University of Miami with a concentration in Accounting and Finance.

Ginna Burrell
GSRM Law

  • Ginna Winfree Burrell’s practice is focused on all aspects of alcoholic beverage licensing and regulation. Before joining GSRM, Ginna served as Assistant Director and, most recently, as Interim Director of the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC). Ginna’s hands-on experience working at the TABC gives her a competitive edge and tangible insight into what is needed to overcome any challenges regarding her client’s licensing and/or other alcoholic beverage initiatives. Ginna is professionally connected to many of the decision-makers in the alcoholic beverage industry. From having done the job herself, she understands the often specific information administrators require to realize her client’s desired outcome. Ginna’s practical skills allow her to streamline the licensing process, saving her clients both time and resources.

    Ginna’s clients include restaurants, hotels, bars, clubs, resorts, and other venues that serve and/or sell alcoholic beverages, manufacturers, importers, wholesalers, and retailers of alcoholic beverages in Tennessee and beyond state lines. She counsels clients on the full spectrum of alcoholic beverage law disciplines, ranging from state and federal liquor license requirements; to regulatory, entitlement, and enforcement matters; to temporary and emergency suspension hearings. Ginna is also involved in probation and consent violations, disciplinary orders, and appeals. In addition, Ginna works productively with the TABC regarding citations, enforcement matters, administrative hearings, and other court actions about alcoholic beverage-related ordinances, statutes, and regulations.

    With a steadfast focus on getting to yes in all types of negotiations, Ginna consistently delivers outstanding communication abilities. She is proficient in applying the law to everyday business scenarios, particularly when working with antagonistic or difficult personalities. Obstacles do not easily daunt Ginna. Her calm demeanor and multi-dimensional capacity to listen often create mutually beneficial solutions that may seem unattainable at the preliminary discussion stage.

    Ginna has served as an invited speaker and industry commentator on topics related to the alcoholic beverage industry. She is also the Southern Regional Vice Chair and member of the Board of Directors for the National Conference of State Liquor Administrators.

Sam has worked as a strategic consultant since 2012, starting his career as an attorney and serving on U.S. Congressman Jim Cooper’s staff in Washington D.C. Most recently, Sam served as Director of Government Relations for Bird Rides, helping shape the company’s state and local policy nationwide. In addition to his role with Jigsaw, Sam is a husband, and a father, and owns Sinema, an upscale restaurant, and 8th & Roast, a series of trendy coffee shops, in Nashville.

  • After earning a degree in Environmental Sciences from Warren Wilson College in North Carolina, Will dived into legal cultivation in Northern California with an emphasis on Organic and Biodynamic growing practices. With his cultivating experience, Will moved back to Tennessee to pursue Organic Agriculture with an emphasis in food systems. In 2014 with the passing of the Farm Bill, Will played an integral role in Tennessee’s passing of their Hemp laws and has served on the board of other hemp associations. Sophie joined LabCanna in 2019, with over a decade of experience in strategic operations and hospitality, eager and dedicated to their mission: to improve lives through cannabis.   • Mallorie Kerby represents clients before the Tennessee General Assembly and the various departments, agencies and commissions of state government. In this capacity, she works with clients to advocate for their business interests related to new legislation and policies within the state. Mallorie also advises clients on range of compliance, litigation, and regulatory issues related to state and federal environmental laws.

    Prior to joining the firm, Mallorie was the Associate Vice President for Environment & Energy Affairs at the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry where she represented businesses and industry groups as a registered lobbyist before the Tennessee General Assembly and state regulators.
